Following Thick Film Microcircuits (TFM) ceasing trading in July 2010, thick film and PCB specialists Copernica announces it has purchased the goodwill, order book, selected assets, engineering information, stock and work in progress (SWIP), rights to website and email addresses - thickfilm.com and thickfilm.co.uk - from the liquidator. The deal was agreed in September 2010.
As is usual in the thick film industry, TFM had been doing business with a number of customers for many years. Copernica can now confirm there will be no problems moving straight across to their facilities.
As part of the deal, Copernica has purchased the full engineering manufacturing information (including engineering drawings and exact product build specs), tooling and screens. For customers this means full engineering and manufacturing support, and jobs can be up and running with NO up-front tooling charges. Copernica is working with ex-TFM MD, Peter Kent, to smooth the transition.
Further to its successful acquisition of Westminster Technologies of Banbury in 2006, Copernica is continuing to expand and broaden its customer base. With the TFM business, it makes us one of the leading thick film players in the UK, adds Mark. Copernica is investing in the long term future of the business, particularly with recent new equipment, boosting their Thick Film and PCB manufacturing capability.
